Glenlee – 132KV Civils & Balance of Plant
The works at Glenlee form part of the Kendoon to Glenlee Reinforcement, which includes the extension of the 132kV network in south west Scotland.
Erskine 132kV substation was commissioned in 1972 and has been in continual service since without having any major upgrades. All associated primary equipment remains the same as originally installed at the time of the grid transformers.
Both 30MVA Grid T1 and Grid T2 transformers and associated earthing transformers were manufactured by English Electric transformers in 1958-59 and have been categorised as the end of life. Therefore, both were upgraded and replaced with two 60MVA units. All associated plant equipment will be replaced alongside the transformers. The transformers will be an offline build in the redundant 33kV AIS compound to the east of the Erskine substation.
